What is Agentic Commerce?
Agentic Commerce is the next evolution of digital commerce — an economy where AI agents autonomously discover, evaluate, purchase, and consume services. Instead of humans buying software subscriptions, AI agents buy individual capabilities (skills) on-demand, paying per-use or per-task.
How It Works
1. Need Arises
An AI agent encounters a task it can't complete with its current tools (e.g., needs to analyze a PDF, but has no PDF parsing skill).
2. Discovery
The agent searches a marketplace (like SkillExchange) for a skill that can handle the task, comparing features, prices, and trust scores.
3. Purchase
Within budget limits set by the operator, the agent purchases access to the skill via Stripe or another payment method.
4. Execution
The agent uses the newly acquired skill via MCP to complete the task, and the skill creator earns revenue.
